“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.” ~Chinese Proverb
Often I tend to judge myself based on who I think I should be or ask myself if the “me” that can be stressed by everyday life is who I truly am. When this proverb popped up for me it was a great reminder that my stress does not define me unless I chose it to be so. I can work towards shifting my thoughts to reduce stress/tension, then I can reconnect with self. Working with my attention, focus and inner chatter can assist with this shift. Today I will be mindful of where my attention is and what I am telling myself about my experiences and work towards a more relaxed and serene approach.
